About Auli

Auli, 16km from Joshimath nestles in the lap of the snow-capped peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas and is an ideal ski resort with its slopes comparable to the best in the world. At an altitude of 2500 to 3050 meters above the sea-level, Auli's well dressed slopes are flanked by coniferuos and oak forests and offer panoramic view of Mt. Nanda Devi, Mana Parbat, Dungagri, Beethartoli, Nikanth Hathi Parbat and Ghori Parbat.

Auli has now become a leading tourist spot. While its slopes beckon daring and gallant skiing enthusiasts, its pristine natural beauty and its alpine atmosphere lure many tourists. HOW TO REACH THERE

By Air : The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant, Dehradun.

By Road : Auli is only a 13 kms. drive from Joshimath. State transport and union buses ply regularly between Joshimath and Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun and Delhi.

By Rail : The nearest railheads are Haridwar and Dehradun.

MAIN ATTRACTIONS IN AULI

Hemkund Sahib : Considered to be one of the most sacred Sikh pilgrimage centre, Hemkund Saheb also makes an ideal trekking spot.

Valley Of Flower : If one is fond of flowers then is a must visit place for him.Witness the endless galore of multihued blooms and you'll just wish to stay in this oblivion flowery world forever.

Gurso Bugyal : 3 kms from Auli, Gurso Bugyal is a huge meadow spread amidst a mixed forest of oaks and conifers. Gurso Bugyal is at 3056 mts above sea-level. One can reach Joshimath via the ropeway. It is barely 1.5 kms from the last tower of the ropeway.As there is no accommodation available here one can only admire the scenery during the day and return to Auli by night.

Chattrakund : 1 km from Gurso Bugyal, in the middle of the jungle is a small lake of sweet water called Chattrakund. This place can be visited when visiting Gurso Bugyal.

Chenab Lake : The last village from Joshimath is Dang which has to be passed to reach this beautiful lake. The road is rough, because of which this lake is not very popular with the tourists.

Joshimath : 12 kms from Auli in the Chamoli District is this town with many temples and memorials. It is a gateway to Badrinath and the Valley of Flowers.

Kwanri Bugyal : 12 kms from Gurso Bugyal Kwanri is a very interesting place for trekkers. Its at 3350 mts above sea-level. Many tourists camp here in summer. Nanda Devi hotel in Joshimath organises such camps where porters, guides, cooks and camping equipment are available. June and September months are the best time visit.
