About Baramati

Baramati is located 99 Kms by road and 120 kms by rail from Pune, Pune, an industrial and education hub, 120 kms from Mumbai, is connected by air from major cities in India, and by road via expressway from Mumbai. A broad gauge rail line connects Baramati to Pune, with trains plying between the two cities daily.

Baramati has a rich cultural heritage. The famous Kashivishweshwar temple on the western bank of Karaha river was constructed during 800 B.C. ,and the famous poet Sridhar who wrote Shivleelamrut a holy scripture belongs to this city.

Baramati was under Yadav's rule, which was later taken over by Bahamani rulers. The famous Babuji Naik constructed the Sidheshwara temple whose reference is observed in the poems written by Great poet Moropant one of famous poet of Maharashtra.Such great poet also belongs to Baramati.There are many more religious temples in and around Baramati.

By Air : The nearest airport from Baramati is located at Pune. There are various flights connecting Pune to all the major cities in India.

By Road : Maharashtra State Transport provides a very efficient bus service to Baramati from Pune. Non-stop buses are available from Pune to Baramati and vice versa every half an hour.

PLACES OF ATTRACTION IN BARAMATI

Arts, Science and Commerce College : This is a one of the better known colleges in the area, started in 1994 by the Vidya Pratishthan trust. The College is located on 110 acres of land,, and offers education in the Arts, Science and Commerce Streams. Well equipped facilities include separate dormitories for Girls and Boys, well lit class rooms, gymnasiums, mess facilities, labrotaries etc.

Law College : recent offering, the Law College was started by the Vidya Pratishthan is in response to the dearth of Law Education colleges in the rural areas. The College is approved by the Bar Council of India and conducts a 3 years' graduation course in Law. The College plans to introduce a 5 years' degree course in the near future.

Sharada Niketan : Sharada Niketan is Vidya Pratishthan has started Sharda Niketan - a ladies' hostel in Pune, for college going women.Apart from providing accommodation, the hostel aims to imbibe culture, discipline, and assists in the personality development of these young ladies.

Swaraj Bhawan : Adjacent to Anand Bhawan, Swaraj Bhawan is notable as the former Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi was born here. Built by Pt. Moti Lal Nehru, the historical building of Swaraj Bhawan was donated to the nation in AD 1930, to be used as the headquarters of the Congress Committee.

School Of Biotechnology : Vidya Pratishthans School of Biotechnology (VSBT) is the newest academic Venture, established in pursuit of development and research in the field of Biotechnology. World wide, the growing complexity and diversity of biological systems and issues in the agriculture, health and environmental sciences offer challenging opportunities for biotechnologists with appropriate skills, experience and educational background.At VSBT we have designed curriculums for the same, under the affiliation of University Of Pune.

B. Ed College : Established in 1990, the College of Education, is the only non aided college under the jurisdiction of the Pune University, which has received permanent affiliation from the university. The college has recognition from the National council Of Teachers Education (NCTE), Western Region Bhopal, and has two divisions of 80 students each. The medium of instruction is Marathi, for which the college has well qualified lecturers.
