About Mussoorie

Musssoorie is famous for its scenic beauty and hectic social life. It provides all kinds of amusement and every facility for domestic and foreign tourists. Mussoorie is conveniently connected by road to Delhi and other major cities and is the "Gateway" to Yamunotri and Gangotri shrines of Northern India.

It has snow in winter and s quite peaceful at that time. It provides all kind of amusement & every facility or domestic and foreign tourists. The Mall Road connects Kulri & Library Bazars. Buses from Dehradun go to the Library or Picture Palace (Kuril bazar) bus stands. During the peak season the Mall Road in closed to traffic. At some extra height above the town, the air is cleaner & pine scented.

HOW TO REACH

By Air : Jolly Grant at Dheradun is the nearest Airport for Mussoorie.
By Rail : Dheradun is the nearest Railhead for Mussoorie.It is a Northern Railway terminus connected with all major cities such as Delhi, Howrah, Bombay, Amritsar, Lucknow and Varanasi.
By Road : Mussoorie is connected with Dehradun (34kms). Dehradun, in turn is connected with all major cities in India through direct motorable roads. There are numerous buses of state roadways from Mussoorie bus stand at Dehradun to Mussoorie.

PLACES TO VISIT IN MUSSOORIE

Gun Hill : Enjoy a ropeway ride to Gun Hill, the second highest peak of Mussoorie. It can also be negotiated by bridle path which forks off the Mall road near Kutchey and takes about 20 minutes to reach. The Ropeway distance is only 400 metres and the sheer thrill of the ride is memorable.It also offers a birds' eye view of Mussoorie town & Doon Valley. The Gun Hill is called so because prior to independence, a midway gun fire enabled residents to adjust their watches.

Kempty Fall : 15 kms from Mussoorie on the Yamuna off road having an altitude of 4500 feet, it has the distinction of being the biggest and the most magnificient waterfall located in a beautiful valley surrounded by high mountains. Bath at the foot of the falls is refreshing and enjoyable for children and adults alike.

Nag Devta Temple : An ancient temple situated on Cart Mackenjie Road and is about 6 kms from Mussoorie. Vehicles can go right upto the spot. It provides a charming view of the Doon Valley as well as Mussoorie.

Mussoorie Lake : A newly developed picnic spot situated on Mussoorie - Dehradun road, 6 kms from Mussoorie. It is a delightful spot. Pedal boats are available. It commands an enchanting view of the Doon Valley and nearby villages.

Jwala Ji Temple : 9 kms to the west of Mussoorie and at an altitude of 2104 meters, is the Jwalaji Temple. It is situated on the top of Benog hill and has an idol of Durga Mata in it. The temple is surrounded by thick forests and offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas, Doon Valley and Yamuna Valley.

Van Chetna Kendra : At a distance of about 2 kms on Tehri bye pass road, this place is developed as a picnic spot and has a park surrounded with pine forest and flowering shrubs, and is approachable b

foot or taxi/car. The main attraction is the wildilife of the park like Ghurar, Kanankar, Himalayan Peacock, Monal etc.
