About Naldehra

Naldehra (2044m) is a heaven for tourist located at distance of 22 km away from Shimla. It boasts of the oldest 9 hole golf course in the country. The well grommed golf course is lovely verdant, perhaps one of the finest and most sporty in India, Crowned with a springing turf the golf Course here was suggested by Lord Curzon he was so enchanted by the place that he gave his daughter Alexendra Naldehra as her second name, It is the venue of many compitetions.

It is a spot of great natural beauty. The Nag temple is also situated here and Naldehra means :DERA" of an abode of God Nal.Naldehra got its name from the Nag temple (or Dehra of the god Nag) which lies bang in the centre of the course. Besides the glorious golfing, you can go for long walks through the woods and picnics in the valley. Drive off to the thick forests of Mashobra (12 km) or the hot sulphur springs of Tatapani (30 km). This is just the ideal mountain break to lift your spirits.

MAIN ATTRACTIONS IN NALDEHRA

The oldest golf course : The Lord Curzon's legacies to India : an 18-hole golf course (played twice over) that's said to be the Country's oldest. members of Delhi's tony golf club clamber up here in the summer ,lock, stock and golfing clubs.
Indian visitors who want to play for a day pay Rs. 200, foreigners pay $20. a golf set is an extra is Rs 200 and $5 for foreigners and you have to buy your own golf balls. the caddy fee is an additional Rs 100, plus a tip.

Mahunag temple : Tucked away here is a tiny Mahunag Temple, Dedicated to the snake god. that's where Naldehra gets its name from :(maha) nag+dehra translates in to the 'Adobe of the king of the snakes' Lord Curzon appears not to have been turned off by the notion of creepy-crawlies - the former viceroy gave his daughter Alexandra the second name Naldehra!

Kogi Village : Next on your tour is the charming Kogi Village, 2 km down a dirt track from Naldehra. here are traditional himachali houses, a temple of Kogi Mata and a chowka (Seat of the elders) Sculpted in wood.

Mashobra (12km) : 2148m Motorable on Shimla - Naldehra road, surrounded by thick forests and offers and offers ideal walks. Goddess Durga temple is worth seeing.

Tattapani (656 m) : Famous for hot sulphur springs. The place also has religious importance. These natural sulphur springs are invigorating and have curative values. Himachal Tourism has a restaurant and a Tourist Bungalow at Tattapani, located on right bank of river Sutlej.

Baldehan : It is 15 Kms. from Simla on the Shimla - Mashobra - Naldhera golf course road. Here one can experience astounding views of nature. Baldehan is overlooked by snow capped mountains
